Have a feature to link photos and videos seamlessly to your activity on Strava that other users can see.
I think it would be great to be able to link photos or videos with rides!
Would love to be able to add a link to a Flickr photo or Flickr album.
And a free text area so you can a 'ride report'.
an option to upload a photo or video taken from your ride on a phone or other device to the associated ride would be great. Given some of the things we all see along a run or ride wouldbe great to share some of these moments we capture.
Yes I agree. I've been using MMR quite a bit only because it has this feature.
Agree with all. Ability to link to external photo albums (Flickr) or external videos (YouTube, Vimeo) would be great!
mtbguru.com allows you to upload time-stamped photos to ride. Photos icons then pop up where photo was taken. Pretty cool but quirky to use. Site is also not that upload friendly. Hence, I am on Strava.
I've seen ppl do this...how? http://app.strava.com/rides/16770513
I think this would be a nice feature too.. even just a "widget" type thing for Flickr or Picasa or YouTube would be fun. I know Strava probably doesn't want the storage concerns of pictures, so a widget would seem perfect.
Photo (include gps-position on the ride) and video (time-sync ride/distance/time/video) will be great stuff :)
As I runner I also use DailyMile and they include photos. But Strava is much better designed and I think linking to photos or having a photo album (similar to Facebook) would give Strava a boost in the social area.
This would be a great feature to have! There are many times that I would like to show a photo of a ride or piece of gear that is being discussed.
Insert the html code for an image. Photobucket actually gives you a link you can copy and paste which makes it easy. So if you have an image on photobucket, it would look like this:
<a href="http://s359.photobucket.com/albums/oo34/Sardian/?action=view&am..." target="_blank"><img src="http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo34/Sardian/ScreenShot2012-10-2..." border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Which will give you this:
<a href="http://s359.photobucket.com/albums/oo34/Sardian/?action=view&am..." target="_blank"><img src="http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo34/Sardian/RLF_4539.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Well, apparently it works on your comments on your activities, but not here.
I JUST said this on my last ride. "Would be great to be able to upload a photo to Strava to show your friends the view from the top."
thanks @Russel Fulmer, that's it!
Many smartphones nowadays insert geolocation information into the metadata of each photograph so tying those to parts of a ride ought to be easy enough, that way you could see others' photos on your ride too.
Sometimes it is hard to know when a segment starts or finishes. I'm only so adept at translating an ariel map view into a road view. Photos in comments are nice, but what I really want sometimes is the option to see a photo of the start/finish of a segment.
Shouldn't this be set to "Done" as the Strava - Instagram integration has been launched?
When I saw we could add pictures, I was almost sure that Strava would use the geolocation information stored in the pictures (phones do this, even some cameras do this). It would be great if the pictures would be placed on the map (like sportstracker's feature).
Also, Instagram is very very very cumbersome to use. A better approach would be using Picasa or other real photo sharing service, and take the "date taken" information as the reference date, since you could go on a MTB ride in the wilderness without phone converage, and you'd upload your pictures only after you arrive back home.
Has the option to embed html code been disabled? It worked the way Russel describes it a few posts up, but does not seem to be working anymore. Or is it just me?
Please please Strava, don't make us use instagram :(
I'd rather have Strava own my photos than Facebook/Instagram - read their EULA- why not just a URL to an image?
Do you have to be running the Strava app on your phone in order for your instagram photos to sync?
Once you have your Strava account linked to your Instagram account (one time thing) all you have to do is upload your photos to Instagram while on your ride or very soon after. Then when you upload your Strava activity it'll automatically show any photos on Instagram that were taken during your activity.
Looks like embeding html code no longer works. It did when I add some pics on http://www.strava.com/activities/58869538, now they don't show.I can understand that Strava might not want to allow embending all kinds of HTML, but they could permit img links, or BB code or something rather than nurfing existing features :(

The instagram link works but is seriously flawed
RidewithGPS allows photos to be uploaded on each ride post. Why not Strava?
Instagram crops all the photos to a square photo. We need to be able to link to, or upload, uncropped photos.
